Forward Far and Wide

Allies in the struggle for human rights:

A report came in Thursday night about Anthony Ferliano, a prisoner at SCI Greene, who has been assaulted and denied medical treatment at SCI Greene. The situation is serious, his mother is requesting all of our aid, so please take a moment to review the alert, make the phone calls, and prove to ourselves that our solidarity is real, we have each other's backs, and that together, little by little, we're going to build a movement to end this terror once and for all.

Anthony Ferliano #GS3317: Other prisoners have written family members of Anthony Ferliano to report that on Tuesday, August 25th, a cell extraction team in full riot gear attacked Mr. Ferliano, ripped him from his cell, and placed him in a suicide watch cell without property.

The reports state that Anthony suffered nerve damage to his right wrist, numbness in the arm, and that "his eye looks like it is leaking blood into his cornea. Despite requesting medical care Anthony has been refused treatment for his injuries. He has not been able to write due to the injury and lack of property.

Call SCI Greene: 724-852-2902 and ask for Superintendent Folino's office, his assistant Dan Davis, or other staff:

Report:

1) the cell extraction on Tuesday, August 25;

2) injuries: nerve damage to his right wrist and his arm is numb; his eye looks like it is leaking blood into his cornea;

3) that he has requested and been denied medical treatment;

Ask:

1) Human Rights monitors and Anthony's family have been in contact with Dan Davis and other staff since the cell extraction but they did not disclose this, instead insisting that Anthony was "fine." Why was there a cell extraction? Why has this been kept from his family?

2) Mr. Ferliano has explicitly told family members and outside supporters in recent weeks that he is not suicidal. Is Mr. Ferliano still on suicide watch? If so, why?

3) We've received reports that Mr. Ferliano has been denied medical treatment after the cell extraction. Has he received any medical treatment to date? If they claim this information is confidential, ask them if that means they are admitting he has been denied treatment.

Advocate:

1) Mr. Ferliano be given immediate medical treatment-this very moment: tell the Superintendent's office that you want your concerns and requests immediately forwarded to the medical department and his unit manager;

2) that Mr. Ferliano is immediately separated from RHU staff involved in these violations;

3) request that Mr. Ferliano be given a transfer to another prison as soon as possible, as per his request, to defuse a dangerous situation.

Call the Office of Professional Responsibility: 717-214-8473 and request to speak to Director James Barnacle or another investigator.

Report the above and request that OPR investigate the incident and other violations against Mr. Ferliano, which include his being starved for 4 days in August.

Call the Deputy Secretary for the Western Region, J. Barry Johnson: 717-975-4930.

Report the above and request that his office investigate these claims, ensure that Mr. Ferliano receives medical treatment and a transfer, and that guards are held accountable.

An Injury to One is an Injury to All.

Take action for Anthony and his family and all the rest of the millions throughout the U.S. who live in terror every moment of every day that they or their loved ones will be assaulted, injured, and denied their rights by prison staff and officials employed by the government.

Solidarity. Respect. Struggle.
